David Baldacci and Ruth Ware Holding Strong This Week

Not much in terms of real excitement this week on the adult fiction list. There was an uprise of self-published authors hitting the USA Today list, but the usual suspects are here and making waves, such as David Baldacci’s The Fix with over 65,000 in combined sales, Ruth Ware’s The Woman in Cabin 10 at 30,000 +, and James Patterson’s The Black Book still holding strong in the 40,000 sale range.

In terms of romance, Danielle Steel’s Magic, Nora Roberts’ The Obsession, and Slow But Cowboy by Maisey Yates are near 20,000 combined sales.  J.R. Ward’s The Chosen (hit #1 on the NYT Combined Fiction 3 weeks ago) has dropped considerably in 3 weeks, with not even 2,000 in hardcover sales, and about to drop out of the USA Today top 150 book list (what does this mean?).

Here are some romances heating up the charts on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Smashwords:

Amazon: The List by Alice Ward, .99 cents New Adult/ Romantic Suspense

We love the chase, thrive on the hunt, but hate the entanglement. So we created The List.

The List – a top secret database of New York’s hottest women. As one of four entrepreneur billionaires who devised it, I live by its rules.

The formula is simple. If any of us sleeps with a girl, we are obligated to add her name, address, and kinks to The List. When another one of us has an urge for a certain type of woman, we simply pull up the list, make a selection, and find our prey.

It sounds like fun, doesn’t it? Well, for years it has been.

But now something’s different.

Riley Carson is different. The soft brunette has woken a part of me I didn’t know existed, a part of me that could be dangerous.

I don’t do girlfriends, but for the first time in my life, I’ve met a woman I don’t want to put on The List. A woman I want to keep to myself.

I have new desires. New cravings. New problems, like betrayal, or even worse, exposure.

Our wealth and reputations are on the line. A scandal would ruin us all.

Riley Carson may very well be our downfall… mine, most of all.

Amazon: Steel by Terry Bolryder, .99 cents Paranormal Romance

A dragon as a handyman? Ridiculous.

At least Liam Steel thinks so. Sure, he and his crew of newly-awakened metal dragons are experts at building things, but after being sunk at the bottom of a frozen ocean, all they want is to find the mates they were sailing in search of in the first place, and Liam isn’t sure how that can happen while he’s playing in the dirt. Until he meets his first client, a sweet, curvy, no-nonsense business-woman busy taking care of everyone but herself. His heart screams ‘mate’, and he’s ready to get his hands on more than her yard.

Kate Hinton doesn’t know what to make of the beefcake Rent-A-Dragon sent over to help with her yard. Impossibly tall with soulful teal eyes, dark hair, and the features of a male model, she’s pretty sure he should be walking a runway rather than digging trenches in her yard. And the way he looks at her? Like nothing else matters in the world. But the more she gets to know her kind, friendly, amazingly efficient handyman, the more she is realizing he’s not from her world.

He lives in a remodeled castle. He doesn’t know certain modern words. And he definitely doesn’t understand the rules of modern courtship. But somehow, Kate is finding herself falling in love with this ‘dragon’ all the same, and finding out there is a whole other world outside her own. One full of secrets, and danger, and maybe even the love of a lifetime.

Amazon: Craving Lily by Nicole Jacquelyn, $3.99 New Adult Contemporary Romance

I grew up hearing about my parents’ love story. How he’d fought for her when she’d refused to fight for herself. The way she’d fought for him when she’d feared that all was lost.

I wanted that.

But for some reason, I’d always imagined that my love story would be different. That it would be easy.

It wasn’t.

No, our story was intense, and convoluted, and frustrating.

But it was ours.

In the end it all came down to one thing…

I’d loved him since the very beginning.

Even when he wasn’t mine to love.

Barnes and Noble; The Negotiator by Avery Flynn, $3.99 Contemporary Romance

Wanted: Personal Buffer

Often snarly, workaholic executive seeks “buffer” from annoying outside distractions AKA people. Free spirits with personal boundary issues, excessive quirks, or general squeamishness need not apply. Salary negotiable. Confidentiality required.

Workaholic billionaire Sawyer Carlyle may have joked he needed a “buffer” from their marriage-obsessed mom, but he didn’t need a waiting room filled with “candidates” to further distract him. (Thanks, bro.) But when a sexy job applicant shooes his mom and the socialite in tow out of his office, Sawyer sees the genius of the plan. And the woman. In fact, Miss Clover Lee might just get the fastest promotion in history, from buffer to fake fiancé…

This “free-spirit” might look like hot sunshine and lickable rainbows, but she negotiates like a pitbull. Before Sawyer knows what hit him, he’s agreed to give up Friday nights for reality tv, his Saturdays for flea markets (why buy junk still baffles him), his Tuesdays and Thursdays for “date nights” (aka panty-losing opportunities if he plays his cards right). And now she wants lavender bath salts and tulips delivered every Monday?

Yup, she’s just screwing with him. Good thing she’s got this non-negotiatable six-weeks-and-she’s-gone rule or Sawyer may have just met this match…

Smashwords; Before I Ever Met You by Karina Halle, $3.99 Contemporary Romance

I first met William McAlister when I was just a teenager.
He was handsome, had a beautiful wife and was on the verge of success, having just joined my father as his business partner. Mr. McAlister was full of smooth charm, but back then he was barely a blip on my radar. Just a family friend.
Fast forward ten years: I’m 25 years old and a single mom trying to make things right for her seven-year old son. I’ve made some mistakes, grappled with my demons and now I’m back in the city of Vancouver, getting a second chance at a better life.
I’ve started by working for my father’s production company as an executive assistant. My first day on the job and I already know I could have a promising career there.
That is until I see Will McAlister for the first time in a decade.
Now recently divorced and as sophisticated as always, Will has gone from being my father’s friend and business partner to something so much more.
We’re both older, for one thing, and he just oozes this worldly confidence and stark sexuality. Combined with his tall, muscular build and sharp suits, strong jaw and bedroom eyes, Will has turned into one hell of a distraction.
A distraction I’m having a hard time staying away from, considering his office is right across from my desk and I work with him in such close proximity.
But it’s just a harmless crush, right?
It’s just an innocent fantasy of screwing him on his desk, right?
It can’t ever be more because he’s my father’s best friend, business partner, and my boss.
Right?
Wrong.

An upcoming release to keep your eye on….

But when Joy’s investigation draws her into a deadly conspiracy that goes deeper than she ever imagined, he must convince her that he’s the best man to protect her.
