Indie Romance Rules the Land: Surrender by Helen Hardt...

May 27, 2017 by

There’s some major shake up this week because an indie romance has come out of left field and risen to the top, almost unseating Paula Hawkin’s Into the Water from the top spot for adult fiction romance. At the NYT Combined fiction list, Paula is still #1, but has dropped to #4 on the USA Today. Into the Fire sold over 29,000 print copies, making her combined sales close to 45,000. The indie romance to have broken out is Helen Hardt’s Surrender- #2 on NYT Combined, but #1 on the USA Today. (GO ROMANCE) Helen has hit the USA Today before, but Surrender is her best charting book to date. Based on this, I would say Surrender sold in the 40,000 range, mainly in digital. We’ll have to watch how Surrender does in week two...

Into the Water Book Review *Paula Hawkins*...

May 23, 2017 by

A single mother turns up dead at the bottom of the river that runs through town. Earlier in the summer, a vulnerable teenage girl met the same fate. They are not the first women lost to these dark waters, but their deaths disturb the river and its history, dredging up secrets long submerged. Left behind is a lonely fifteen-year-old girl. Parentless and friendless, she now finds herself in the care of her mother’s sister, a fearful stranger who has been dragged back to the place she deliberately ran from—a place to which she vowed she’d never return. With the same propulsive writing and acute understanding of human instincts that captivated millions of readers around the world in her explosive debut thriller, The Girl on the Train, Paula Hawkins delivers an urgent, twisting, deeply...

Paula Hawkins’ Into the Water Is On Fire...

May 20, 2017 by

It’s a stellar second week for Paula Hawkins and her new release, Into the Water. In it’s second week of sales, it has sold over 45,000 in print, and around 120,000 combined sales. It’s in the number one spot for adult fiction this week. James Patterson’s 16th Seduction (#1 last week) is still holding strong with over 50,ooo combined sales. Other authors, such as Lee Child (Night School) and Danielle Steel (Against All Odds) are also doing well in the 40,00 0 sales range.     Other notables debuting this week, as less than amazing sales in terms of print (hardcover sales under 5,000). Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Deadman Walking and Amanda Quick’s The Girl Who Knew Too Much sold a little over 4,600 in hard cover. I guess their digital sales made up the difference?...
