Guest Author Post: MY WRITING PROCESS-FOLLOW ME DOWN by Sherri Smith...

Mar 21, 2017 by

I always associate ‘writing process,’ with people far artsier than myself. I picture them parked in front of old fashioned typewriters, bathed in wintery lighting, their berets angled just so. They have a certain number of pens lined up next to their elbows and cute stationary. They’re in full control of channeling out their greatness, because they have a process. They know what they’re doing. Me? Not so much. My writing process, if you can call it that, is sloppy and haphazard at best. I start with a random image, something that makes my head buzz, my skin prickle and I go from there. In FOLLOW ME DOWN, this scene was a rusty looking pool behind a quasi-rundown apartment block where the sun is hitting the windows in that way that turns them all...

KT’s Adventures in Europe: Vienna, Austria (Part 3)...

Mozart loves showing off his chocolates in Vienna The next stop on my European adventure after an incredible visit to Budapest was Vienna, Austria, home of decadent pastries, dessert, and classical music (Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is one of Vienna’s most beloved artists) I took a train from the Budapest train station (above) to Vienna. It was a 2 hours trip. Riding by train is a great way to get around Europe. Once I arrived in Vienna, it was a short walk to my hotel- Motel One Wien-Staatsoper. The Wien-Straarsoper is a newer, modern hotel that is very close to the main city center, and a few streets away from the Vienna Opera House. This hotel didn’t have breakfast included, but for under 13 euros, you could get a full breakfast. For some reason the...

KT’s Adventures in Europe: Budapest, Hungary (Part 2)...

I made a friend in Budapest   After visiting Amsterdam, my next stop was Budapest, Hungary. I took Easy Jet, which was a 2 hour flight. Easy Jet is “a British airline, operating under the low-cost carrier model, based at London Luton Airport. It operates domestic and international scheduled services on over 820 routes in more than 30 countries.” I used Easy Jet twice- Amsterdam to Budapest, and Prague back to Amsterdam for my flight home to the US. I wasn’t sure what to expect while visiting Budapest. I am so glad I did, because Budapest is an amazing city. It was one of my favorite stops on this trip. The architecture alone will astound you. A great way to view the city is take to a boat ride on the Danube River (I did!)....

KT’s Adventures in Europe: Amsterdam Netherlands (Part 1)...

I’m back! I’ve returned from the jaunt in Europe, and had an incredible time! I was lucky to visit some amazing countries in 10 days- 5 in all (crazy whirlwind tour, with 2 day stops in each place). The 5 places in I visited were: Amsterdam, Netherlands Budapest, Hungary Vienna, Austria Dresden, Germany (day trip 8 hours) Prague, Czech Republic   Why these countries, you may ask? Amsterdam has been on my bucket list of places to visit before I die. The others were because they are all in close proximity to ones another, and easy to travel to by plane or train (under 3 hours).  I was able to visit all by taking Easy Jet (under $70 for a ticket one way) and the rail/train system (under $50 one way). I also traveled...

And Away I Go To Long Off Distant Lands…...

Mar 3, 2017 by

For the first time in 8 years since I’ve had Babbling about Books, and More, I’m going on a long hiatus for over a week because I’ll be traveling for to long distant lands (maybe not so long and distant), such as:   Amsterdam, Netherlands (Rembrandt House Museum) Fun Facts about Amsterdam: There are close to 900,000 bicycles in the city. 20 million tourists visit every year. Amsterdam has more bridges than Venice. Amsterdam is one of the top 25 safest cities in the world. Amsterdam is the second largest consumer of coffee in the world (I’ll fit in quite well!). There is a catboat called Pozenboot that houses stray cats, and is the only one of it’s kind in the world.   Budapest, Hungry (Széchenyi Spa) Fun facts about Budapest: Budapest has more thermal springs...
