Hex Appeal Power Puff Girls Review Special...

Oct 1, 2008 by

Welcome to another famous Power Puff Review! Bubbles (Ana from Book Smugglers) and Blossum are back with their review of Hex Appeal by Linda Wisdom. But where has Buttercup gone? Buttercup is on secret vacation with Batman, and both are relaxing on a beach somewhere. Poor Robin is stuck cave sitting. So what makes this review so special? We have a guest reviewer taking over for Buttercup. She is Dot Warner (Jen B from The Ginger Kid’s Den of Iniquity). Make sure to check out their reviews and see if we agree or disagree with our reviews. When I read 50 Ways to Hex a Lover, I fell in love with Jasmine “Jazz” Tremaine, a seven-hundred year old witch who loves fashion, food and great sex with her on again, off again vampire lover...

Fluff and Puff: The Interview

Sep 30, 2008 by

Jazz Tremaine, the witch who can’t stay out of trouble in Linda Wisdom’s 50 Ways to Hex Your Lover, is back again in the sequel, Hex Appeal, that will be on the shelves in November. Usually I ask an author for an interview when their new release is coming out. This time I did something a little different and asked a set of characters of Linda’s some questions because they made such an impression on me. If you have read 50 Ways to Hex Your Lover, you know about Fluff and Puff, those magical bunny slippers of of Jazz. I quickly became a big fan of them and we soon became internet buddies. Because I have a My Space page, and they have one also, they like to leave comments and messages on my...

Banned Books Week

Sep 29, 2008 by

September 17 to October 4 is Banned Books Week! From Bannedbooksweek.org: Banned Books Week: Celebrating the Freedom to Read! Banned Books Week is the only national celebration of the freedom to read. It was launched in 1982 in response to a sudden surge in the number of challenges to books in schools, bookstores and libraries. More than a thousand books have been challenged since 1982. The challenges have occurred in every state and in hundreds of communities. People challenge books that they say are too sexual or too violent. They object to profanity and slang, and protest against offensive portrayals of racial or religious groups–or positive portrayals of homosexuals. Their targets range from books that explore the latest problems to classic and beloved works of American literature. According to the American Library Association, more...

I am a Survivor

Sep 28, 2008 by

This past Friday was a very emotional day for me, and I am not just talking about my reaction to the US government’s $700 billion bailout. *insert shrieks of terror here* There were two incredible posts on this day from Ana and Thea from The Book Smugglers and from Christine at the Happily Ever After blog that brought major tears to my eyes. The Book Smugglers had this wonderful interview with Lisa Kleypas posted. Lisa visited and was so incredibly gracious to respond to our comments, especially mine. For me this was a dream come true because she is one of my idols. Christine posted her thoughts about Lisa’s book, Blue Eyed Devil, and her reaction after reading the book. Her post was such an inspirational and passionate telling of about her own past...

A Wallflower Christmas **Power Puff Advanced Review** and Contest...

Sep 25, 2008 by

Usually when I see a holiday themed book, I turn the other way. I am not really into the holiday reads, and when I first heard that Lisa Kleypas had written one, I almost groaned. I know, I should be ashamed, because it is a Lisa Kleypas book after all! But when Bubbles and Buttercup from The Book Smugglers couldn’t stop raving about A Wallflower Christmas, I decided to give it a try, especially since it is Lisa Kleypas Appreciate Week over at The Book Smugglers. Ana asked if I wanted to do another team review with her since we have so much fun doing them together. How could I refuse? I am so glad I decided to read A Wallflower Christmas. Lisa has done it again, writing a superb romance with another to...
